4 month Faves

A few of my favorite things this month:

1. Aden + Anais sleeping bags  (ever since she preferred sleeping without being swaddled these have helped tremendously because we worried when we put a blanket on her & this way we know she is warm but not going to kick/grab it over her face) :

2.  Babies 'R Us Cloth Bibs  (my little one is teething which means a lot of drooling so these help a lot so we don't have to change her outfit all the time) :

3.  Bath Babies swim class at Emlers (she loves the water & really enjoys this class.  it is free until your little one turns 6 months)

4.  Our Aqua Scale 3-in-1 Bathtub (may not weigh accurately all the time but still like it):

5. Etsy.com (seriously am addicted to all the cute options they have for babies):

4 Month Update!

Little O is 4 months today!!!  Time is starting to fly by and I may not be ready for all the milestones she is going to start to hit and the ones she has accomplished!
To begin, she has FINALLY no longer wearing newborn diapers, since last week, and is in size 1 diapers.  They are pretty big on her, but the newborn were no longer fitting comfortably on her.  She also manages to eat at least 3 to 4 ounces per feeding, my baby is growing!  So we tend to use the 8 ounce bottles more, and have you seen the new lavender colored Dr. Brown Bottles, I love them!
She also is learning to sleep in her crib, during nap time but we have yet to try and sleep in it for bed time.  She no longer likes to be swaddled, I think it is more of being too warm for her.  Especially here in Texas where the weather is never consistent she just would get so sweaty during the nights that I think she became too uncomfortable so now she is using a sleep sack (whoever came up with that idea is a smarty!).
She has real good head control and loves sitting up to look at what is going on around her, especially if we are out and about!  After her sick visit, the nurse practitioner said she is 100% teething, her gums are very swollen & predicts she'll have her first teeth in the next month or so!  Oh my!  So it begins!
She also is making a lot more noises, and I love how it seems we can be having these conversations even though we both have no idea what the other is saying :)
The one thing is that we have not really heard a good long laugh from her.  She definitely has chuckled and cooed at us, big smiles, but not a big laugh from her yet!  And this momma has been trying everything to get her to laugh, any suggests welcomed (and yes I have tried singing her the Sir Mix A Lot song)!
Reading time has become a fun, daily time for us!  I had heard about the "Olivia Series" by Ian Falconer, and I love them!  She seems to like them as well :)  I also bought her and baby Bible book and can't wait to continue to share God's love with her.
And finally here are some (ok a lot but you've been warned) of my sweet little O :

Ruffle bottom, couldn't resist!

More ruffles!  And look at the head control!

Trying to play with her toys!

Baby's First Cold

In my attempt to write more frequently on here I realized I do not have a whole lot to update ya'll on except my little penguin is sick with her very first cold :(
It is not fun watching a sick baby.  It is difficult and frustrating because as a parent you want to take all the pain away & just give comfort in all ways possible.  It is also frustrating because you are not sure exactly what is ailing them when she is screaming and you are trying to solve the issue.   My heart has been aching with every sniffle and cough she does.
We took her to doctor on Monday, a day after we noticed her symptoms & I had checked with my best friend who is also a mom with tons of experience, and the nurse practitioner agreed she has a cold.  The also did a test to see if she had RSV and that came back negative, phew!  However the nurse said they wanted babies to be sick, in fact they want them to be sick at least 7 times and said she would get RSV eventually!  This did not make me happy to hear at all, I do not like going through this let alone seeing my baby penguin in pain!  I know this is just the beginning of feeling helpless and having to watch her grow, but man this is a lot harder than I imagined.  I have been praying a lot, praying for God to let me put Him in charge and for me to let go.  I know I cannot control everything, especially when it comes to her, but my instincts are to protect her from all that can/will hurt her.  I have to remind myself that she is in God's hands & His plan for her will bring her love, peace and happiness.

The other hard part of a baby being sick is that it throws off their sleep schedule!  I had been working so hard to get her on a schedule & we had been doing so well.  She has managed to learn to sleep through the night and now all of that seems lost.  She has to sleep elevated right now so there goes all the crib training we had been working on too.  *Sigh*  I guess we shall start again once she gets on the mend.

Here are some pics of my little O, even sick she still manages to smile:

She even got a belated present in the mail!

Baby Penguin Towel, too cute!

Not really in the mood to play:

Here she is saying, "Mom I am not feeling the best" - poor baby!

Not quite sure how this position is comfortable but she seemed to like it!

Tummy time despite being sick!

Not feeling to good here:

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day from Little O & me!  Sorry for the delay but apparently my little penguin has gotten her first cold.  And it has not been fun around here.  Trying to comfort her as much as possible and just help keep her airway clear! I pray that this is over soon!
In the meantime some cute pics from one of my favorite holidays:

Three Month Update

I am a few weeks behind but here it goes.
She is growing so much, maybe too much in my opinion but I love watching her become more engaged & more active every day.  She did not have a 3 month check up with the doctor and I kind of wish she did.  I am pretty sure she is starting to teeth because boy does this little one love to chew on her hands & drool!  We are constantly putting bibs on her to try and catch the drool, plus not have to change her as much.  She also cries a bit from the ache it causes and I wish there was something I can do to ease but it seems letting her chew on stuff helps a bit.
She is still wearing newborn diapers, which is good because she is still pretty tiny but I know she needs to grow so hopefully this month she will out grow them!
I am addicted to putting stuff in her hair (i.e. flowers, bows, etc...).  I am also addicted to taking pictures of her. In fact my phone is full of pictures of her.  I just am constantly looking at her and thinking oh my goodness that was too cute I need to capture this moment.  I don't know people did it when there was no cell phones with cameras.  It is so easy and convenient :-)
As for sleeping that has improved.  We have her on a routine which includes her finally sleeping in her own room but we are still transitioning from napper to crib.  She definitely can sleep 8 hours, as long as we stick to her routine, that is key!
Another quick thing about my cell phone ( I have an iPhone), I am grateful to it as well because of an app called Instagram.  That is where I post most of her photos and I have found other moms on there as well.  I know I will probably never meet them face to face but reading their blogs has helped tremendously, especially for this first time mom!  I learn from their experiences or try products they recommend to see if maybe that will work for us!  Here are a few of my favorites:
